Connect your first site

1. Create an organization

Sites belong to an organization. After you sign up and verify your email, create one from the first screen. Everyone you invite to that organization sees its sites.

2. Connect Cloudflare

Open Settings > Integrations > Cloudflare inside the organization and follow the steps. You will create a Cloudflare API token with the permissions the screen lists, paste it in, and choose which zones to monitor.

For each zone you enable, Fathom deploys a small Worker to your Cloudflare account. From that moment every request that reaches the zone is recorded at the edge and the site appears in your sites list. The first numbers show up within a few minutes.

The token is stored encrypted. Disconnecting removes the Workers from your account.

3. Optional: the JavaScript snippet

Each site has a tracking snippet under the site's Settings tab. It adds behavioral data (custom events, goals, funnels) on top of the edge data. It is optional, and it is not a substitute for the Cloudflare connection: a site with only the snippet cannot see bots, AI agents or errors, and the dashboard will say so.

4. Optional: Google Search Console

Under Settings > Integrations > Google, connect the Google account that owns the site's Search Console property and map the property to the site. After the first sync the Research tab shows keywords and search performance next to the traffic that actually arrived, and the insights feed starts flagging gaps.

If something looks wrong

  • Every number is zero. The site has no data source yet. Check that the zone is enabled under the Cloudflare integration and that the site's domain matches the zone.
  • Bots and errors say "not measured". The site is snippet-only. Connect Cloudflare to measure them.
  • Numbers on different screens disagree. They should not. If they do, note the two screens and the date range and contact us; that is a defect on our side.
